86 Year old Johanna Quass shows us she still has what it takes to be a gymnast. She was officially named as the worlds oldest gymnast in the Guiness book of records last month.
Johanna Quaas, born on November 20, 1925, is a regular competitor in the amateur Landes-Seniorenspiele competition in Saxony, Germany.
“I do think I could be seen as a role model,” Quaas said.
“Especially for older people, like myself, it's important that they start easy and they build up the foundation and they build up the physique.”
Lots of ex- competitive gymnasts do stay in the sport when they retire from competition, they have a lot of knowledge to pass on to the younger generation. Most continue as coaches and stay connected to the sport they Love, It becomes a way of life not “just a job”. It’s is great to see they they can also keep up the fitness, and continue to enjoy the training.
